Woodland Salves
We make 3 salves which we forage from the wilds of Sullivan County and prepare on our homestead in Jeffersonville.
**Wild Band-Aid Salve: Made with Comfrey and Yarrow herbs solar infused Braggs Olive Oil, Hemp oil, Calendula oil, Coconut oil and Lavender and Sandalwood essential oils.
The combination of oils in this salve gives it amazing healing property to repair damaged skin, heal superficial cuts and scratches cleanly and with the remarkable speed.
Comfrey is known as bone knit and works wonders on injured bones helping repair and recuperate broken bone. Comfrey also works wonders on burns of any kind making this salve my go to for when my little one gets sun burns. Yarrow seems to magically stop bleeding wounds as calendula and coconut repair the skin smoothness. Lavender and Sandalwood keep the wounds clean of microbes as the other herbs do their job.

**Bug Bite Salve: My Bug Bite Salve is made with local & ethically wild foraged Plantain and Jewelweed. These plants are solar infused in Bragg’s Organic Olive Oil for several months and combined with locally sourced beeswax to create a truly magical healing salve. Used for a slew of different bug bites, scrapes and rashes. Good for some fungal infections as well.
Plantain is known for its healing properties for stings from bees, wasps, flies and mosquito's. Scrapes, rashes and gastrointestinal related troubles. It draws out the poison and reduces swelling. It is called “white-mans footprint” by Natives because it was brought to the America’s by settlers and grew everywhere the white man went. This is one of my favorite plants, one of the first I learned about and one of the first I teach about. It’s antimicrobial so it helps prevent bacteria from growing.
Jewelweed is an emollient quite soothing to all sorts of skin afflictions such as heat rash, sunburns, chicken pox, eczema, psoriasis, hives, stinging nettles encounters, bee stings, insect bites, acne, blemishes, hemorrhoids, and other skin irritations. Jewelweed is also antifungal, antihistamine and an anti-inflammatory most famously being used for poison ivy and poison oak encounters, when rubbed on immediately can help prevent the spread of a rash.
Bragg Organic Olive oil is imported from Greece and made with Greek Koroneiki olives. Their unfiltered and unrefined oil exceeds the stringent quality standards set by the international olive council. Rich in health supporting monounsaturated fats, providing polyphenol antioxidants and used for a host of imaginative remedies and products.
